Quality Policy

 The Quality Policy of CMC Steel Alabama is:

·        CMC Steel Alabama will deliver products and services that conform to our customers’ requirements.  Our goal is total customer satisfaction.

·        This policy requires that each employee be committed to doing the job right the first time.

·        Our operating philosophy concentrates on continuous improvement and prevention methods.  Quality is our way of life.  It’s Got to Be Right!

Quality Management System (QMS)

 Our Quality Policy is implemented through a Quality Management System which emphasizes the continuous improvement of all processes and of customer satisfaction.  The QMS employs measurement, analysis, internal audits and corrective and preventive action processes to achieve these important objectives.

 The CMC Steel Alabama QMS is:

·      Registered to ISO 9001:2000 for the manufacture and supply of steel shapes and bars

·      ABS Approved for rolled structural steel shapes and bars up to 1” thick

Quality Assurance

 The Quality Assurance department consists of technical professionals who use modern analytical equipment to test and certify that the steel is of the exact quality and grade desired by our customers.  The Quality Assurance facilities consist of:

·      A Chemical Lab at the Melt Shop, performing spectrochemical and combustion analysis

·      A Billet Lab at the Continuous Caster, performing internal and external evaluation of cast billets

·      A Mechanical Testing Lab at the Rolling Mill, performing tensile, bend, hardness and Charpy impact testing
